AB/Community with Tia Bhuva

Updated: Feb 17, 2021

AB/Community is an interview series featuring some of the amazing women we work with. Read on to learn about who they are and what they’ve gained from coaching.

Meet Tia Bhuva, the co-founder of Tia Bhuva.

Describe yourself in 1-2 sentences.

I'm a mom of a wonderful little boy, married to the love of my life. I'm an entrepreneur, and I love creating things that bring joy into people's lives.

You’re the epitome of big, bold moves! You launched your company, Tia Bhuva, after realizing there was a better way to wear a saree, and it’s grown tremendously in such a short time. What called you to work with Antoinette?

Our business has grown so fast in the last couple of years that we didn't really get any time to pause and take it all in. I also knew that getting to that next level (from here) would mean mastering my mindset with tools and tactics on a consistent basis. Having had that short conversation with Antoinette 6-7 months before I actually started working with her, I knew that working with her would get be there faster and better equipped.

What does stepping into your power mean to you?

It means listening to that voice in my head (sometimes a very quiet, faint voice) that tells me I can do anything I set my mind to. Simply quieting everything else and listening/believing in that voice.

How do you own who you are?

I find that whenever I waver from my morning routine, I don't feel as equipped to own the day/really get the most out of myself. So I prioritize meditating, journaling, and some physical activity every morning.

What’s your mantra on repeat?

A pale blue dot by Carl Saagan - it's what I come back to and read whenever I feel overwhelmed/discouraged/distracted. It's how I center myself.

Antoinette works with a lot of high-achieving entrepreneurs like you, and they often ask what other entrepreneurs focus on in their sessions. What’s been one of your biggest breakthroughs working with Antoinette?

Realizing that energy is everything. I mean, I've heard that everywhere, but I don't think I really understood what it meant. She recommended I read Energy Leadership, and I'm convinced the book, and the numerous conversations we've had about it since, have changed the trajectory of my life.

What advice would you give to someone who’s on the fence about coaching?

I was on the fence for six months after our initial call. But I couldn't stop thinking about the incredible conversation we had. I then realized that it would not only be an investment in myself, but also my business/career. That's what finally made me reach out to Antoinette again. Our weekly chats have not only accelerated my progress towards my goals, but also taught me real tactics/tools I can use to enjoy the process too.
